R&D department, for the creation of innovative products and advanced health services

KRB SA has established a Research & Development Department, which is active in the creation of innovative products and advanced health services, some of which have led to international patents, always in collaboration with prominent physicians and renowned professors.

One of the key products of KRB SA is the antimicrobial copper thermometer, which is a global innovation and is registered as a product with European and American patents. It is available in Germany, Switzerland, Greece, and the USA.

For the creation of the digital thermometer with antimicrobial copper, clinical studies were carried out in Greece and published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicines. The product has been awarded internationally and has received distinctions for its documented and patented application against microbes’ spread, a fact which gives it added value over simple digital thermometers.

Through this patented technological application, it aims to create safe thermometry conditions not only for the family, but also for the entire "health chain" (doctors - nurses - patients).

The action of the antimicrobial copper that coats the tip (nose) and the cover of the thermometer battery, kills a large number of pathogenic microbes, such as Klebsiella spp, Staphylococcus Aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Candida spp, Pseudomonas spp, Influenza A (H1N1) drastically reduces the microbial flora in the coated areas and causes a significant reduction in the spread of pathogens to the rest of the thermometer body, thus providing high safety and protection to the user.

The innovative digital thermometer with antimicrobial copper provides the best solution for safer fever management.

  • Diminishes the risk of microbial transmission among users
  • Provides accurate thermometry
  • The antimicrobial action of copper significantly reduces pathogenic microbes

Antimicrobial copper and new coronavirus

New studies are being conducted on the virucidal activity of antimicrobial copper and its effectiveness in relation to SARS-CoV-2 Corona virus, an infection that is currently the greatest threat to humans’ survival in the 21st century.

It has been established that the main sources of virus transmission are respiratory droplets and aerosols. However, because this virus when found on contact surfaces, manages to survive and transmit, several researchers sought surface materials that would limit transmissibility and thus lead to a reduction of morbidity and complications of Covid-19 infection.

In a new study, also conducted at the University of Southampton, UK, by Professor William Keevil and his colleagues, on 2.1.2021, it was found that the SARS - CoV-2 coronavirus is inactivated in a very short time (a few minutes) on the surfaces of antimicrobial copper.
Rapid inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 on copper touch surfaces

It is worth mentioning that in this study, comparative virus inactivation control procedures were also carried out, to test the inactivation of the virus on other surfaces, such as plastic, glass and other materials, on which it was found that the persistence of the coronavirus was active for many hours.
